Spending time with Nate
I went back to bellingham on the longest plain ride. I did not sleep.
Nate picked me up from the airport. It was good to see him again.
I got to love my Maurice! Who is being spoiled by Nate, and has his new BFF Fujin.
I took these pictures at Copper Hog! Nate has no idea how cute he really is.

Firehouse Theatre
Saarbrucken has its own Firehouse Theatre! It reminded me of the one in Bellingham. In fact Saarbrucken reminded me quite a bit of Bellingham. For its size it has a lot students and artists.
Out on the town with Kate
Kate and I went out for dinner and it ended up being a very interesting night.
We went to a Balinese restaurant. It was really satisfying. I got a soup that was a cross between ramen, and coconut curry.
I had a sparkling wine from Alsace. I had an amazing herbal, fruity, iced tea. Then to top it off a had a kumquat crush, I think it was called. I only had kumquat for the first time maybe a year ago. I used to think it was a word my dad had made up. But it's very real, and very tasty!
The waiter gave me a fan from Bali and asked me to write him, though I don't think I will.
Then on our way home we ran into a friend of Kate's. He took us to a pub win what they call the Bermuda triangle, a small area with three or four different bars. The joke is that you could come and never leave!
The patrons were artists and students. Really friendly people, most of them seemed to know each other already.
I'd like to go back to Saarbrucken some day soon. I liked the atmosphere, and the people who lived there.
The images are from the ceiling of the pub.

My cubby hole!
On the way from Amsterdam to Saarbrucken one of my trains were entirely reserved. Luckily they had this carpeted cubby hole in the stairway of the train. I was able to fit my bag, and myself on the bench. I was able to curl up there as to not block the way of the the foot traffic.
I tried to take a romantic perspective, that of a stowaway riding the rails. Though crew knew well I was allowed to be there, and I had my pass.

The Bridge Hotel
This the hotel I stayed in, it was quite quaint. The first image is from behind the hotel. One of those windows are mine.
Characters of Amsterdam
Most of the people in Amsterdam dressed rather normally of course.
Then there were these characters. Amsterdam seems like another Portland or something. A liberal bubble. A time warp. A Mecca for the strange.

Foam party in the park!
So it looked like they were trying to clean this reflecting pool in the park. But a few locals and tourist got to play in the mounds bubble before they tried to wash it all away.
It was a magical experience, for adults and children alike!

The food was good, the service was excellent!
I was tired, and I was hungry. I was delirious. And every restaurant I seemed to stumble into was meatropolis. By that I mean one, or no vegetarian options. And the vegetarian option was soup. Which probably had chicken broth in it.
I called Nate and he went online and found me the closest vegan restaurant!
The interior was very colorful! It looked like it had been decorated by Rika, and my mom!
They have yoga classes in a room upstairs.
The menu had variety, Mexican, Indian, Moroccan. I got an Indian "tapas" plate, which tasted quite authentic.
I wasn't feeling well when entered the restaurant and I was hoping food would help. But I only seemed to get worse. I became dizzy and nauseous.
I told the waitress, who looked like Julia's sister. She brought me water, and then they made me a cup of Yogi Digestive Tea, which wasn't even on the menu. They packed up my food for me and wished me well.
I'd like to go there again just for the service. I got the feeling that they weren't just doing their job either. They were helping me out because they were good people, because they cared.
