Picnic off the I90

At our last stop we had a little picnic. It was quite enjoyable until the bees came. Boppa kept trying to kill them. I'm so glad he didn't get stung.

After we left the reststop, Jackie asked me what time it was. I checked and told her that it was 12:53.
She wouldn't believe me. She kept telling me that it must be 2:00. I think finally convinced her that it is not even 1:00 yet. I can't figure out why she was so sure it was 2:00.

Mount Rainier in view!

We just stopped at the Ryegrass Reststop.
Boppa was very disoriented at first and he would not come out of the car. I had sort of coax him out.
Jackie didn't seem as impressed as I was, but I liked the view at this Reststop. There were wind mills all around us. Most exciting to me was the view of Mount Ranier. I love Mountains!

Leaving Moses Lake

After I got ready this morning, I joined Boppa and Jackie at breakfast. They went to go pack, while I finished breakfast. I didn't have a whole lot of packing to do. It took me about 5minutes after breakfast to pack up, and get the cooler together. Then I met Boppa and Jackie at their room. I got the car loaded up, and got us checked out.
We stopped at the gas station. I got out to grab some snacks and then I came right back to the car while Jackie filled up the tank. When Jackie got in the car she told Boppa that I was still buy snacks. I very uncomfortably had to tell her that I was sitting behind her, and had been in the car for the last 10-15 minutes....

We had our first stop this morning. At this rest stop they had a private bathroom for family's and people with disablities. It was much easier to make sure that he was doing ok in their, and was less stressful for Jackie.

I like that these are posted in the restrooms at all the rest stops.

Back to Moses Lake

We got off to a slow start today. We left the Davenport between 1:00 & 2:00.
We only took one stop along the way. It was nice and sunny.
We arrived at the Best Western about 20 after 3:00.
After we got checked in, and got our bags to our room Boppa took a nap, and I walked down to the lake! It was great to soak up some sun!

We went to dinner in "Paradise". We watched a beautiful sunset as we ate Dinner.
After Dinner I was able to take a couple pictures before it set entirely.

We are all exhausted.

We had a long day of meeting yesterday, in freezing cold rooms.
Boppa stayed awake for all of it.
Andrew was appointed General Manager.
Boppa spoke a few times. He told many anecdotes. One man in the meetings, asked me to write down Boppas stories about the early days of the company. He gave me his business card as well.
After the meeting were done I did some window shopping, and bought I knew pair of tights. I had a woman scream at me because I told her I had no money to give her.
We got to the reception about an hour late. I loved the ballroom that the reception was held in. I wanted to dance in it.
Afterwards my cousin David and I went to the peacock lounge where we were joined by Josh. (I was in a metal band called Cerridwen. Josh was the Bassist of Cerridwen. He lives in Spokane now.)
David paid for all our drinks and food that night.
I forgot to give Angie her present. And I couldn't figure out how to get it to her in the morning.

An afternoon for myself.

After lunch I went on a walk. I walked down to riverside park.
It was beautiful and sunny. There were lots of geese and ducks.
I then went into a novelty shop. I browsed around for awhile. I saw a lot of things I wanted, but knew I didn't need. Even more so, I saw a lot of gifts I wanted to get for my friends. But I know Kevin doesn't need a foam football that looks Jake from Adventure Time, Von doesn't need a stuffed animal that looks like a Miyasaki character, Andrea doesn't need a book on how to make wacky animals out of socks, or does she?
But then I thought, "Hey, maybe they have Flux!"
Well, they didn't. I asked.
But, they did direct me to the bookstore Kevin told me about, Aunties Bookstore. (Though Kevin didn't know the name.) A part of Aunties Bookstore is Uncles Games! (I know, the name choice has a slightly sexist undertone. Game stores are known for being very male dominated. Labeling that store as your male uncle, not going to help those stereotypes.)
Anyway, I went into Uncles and bought two Adventure Time Mad Libs! And I bought Eco Flux!
It was a good day.

We are at the Davenport!

Yes, we are at the Davenport now.
Our rooms are joined. It's perfect. I am close by if they need me, but I also have privacy. I have two queen size beds in my room. I could have had the room with the King size bed. But I gave them the room with the king size bed. I still can't tell which room they wanted. But I thought they might want to sleep in the same bed.I think Jackie was just trying to be polite. But this isn't I Love Lucy....
We had lunch downstairs. I don't think we will be going to any restaurants in Spokane. Walking anywhere is just that much harder for Boppa, and Jackie now.
Lunch was good. I had French Onion Soup, with Walla Walla sweet Onions. Boppa, and Jackie shared the Crab Louie. And Boppa got the most excellent Martini, that he shared generously!

Last stop before Spokane

The last rest stop was in a beautiful location. There was a view of a lake, there were horses grazing, and the sun was shining.

Thursday morning: Moses Lake

I woke up in the motel really groggy. I decided to skip breakfast and eat my yogurt.
The yogurt I brought with me is from Lynden. They use jersey cows. The yogurt is so creamy, with a sutle sweetness. I'm sure that nothing at the hotel breakfast was better than my yogurt. I have no regrets missing breakfast.
Jackie came to my door to tell me they were ready. But I wasn't ready yet. Then when I was ready, I went to their room and they were not ready. So, I pulled all my things into their room. I sat, and waited on the bed while they got ready.
We finally are taking things out to the car, but Boppa would not leave because he was concerned that he had lost his gloves. I decided to go out to the car with out him, because my arms were tired from holding all the luggage.
I got out to the car and I asked Jackie about the gloves. She didn't think they brought his gloves. But Boppa still hasn't come out to the car. So, Jackie goes back to get him while I load the car.
When she doesn't return I go back into the motel to find them.
Boppa is walking around the hallway, and I don't see Jackie anywhere. Boppa can't remember where she went. So I walk him out to the car.
Then Jackie comes out to the car and tells us that she couldn't find his gloves, so they must be at home.
I'm glad she was thorough, but golly! That was confusing! So we checked out. And went to the gas station. We drove around the gas station till we could find a machine that will take cards.
We finally left, got on the i90, and then Jackie realized  that she could not find her cell phone.
We got off at the next exit. We opened up the trunk to check in her suit case. And we found her cell in her vest.
After we drove around for awhile, we found the right ramp on to the i90.
What a morning!
(Sorry if my tenses got confusing. Oops!)

My room at the Best Western.

We were lucky enough to get neighboring  rooms!
I have a view of the lake. There is a sliding glass door, but it has been bolted shut. I do look forward to looking out at the lake in the morning.
I have a king size bed. When I sleep tonight I'm going to cover as much space, on this king size bed, as possible!
I turned the heat on too. Yay heat!

Dinner in Paradise!

That is the name of the restaurant, Paradise.
The restaurant is connected to the motel. Grandma Jackie told me the restaurant was quite good, but I felt cautious.sge said they have good martinis as well.
We had to walk down a long hallway to get there. I think it tired Boppa out a bit.
Our waitress was named Lizbeth. She had been working there for 20 years! Why? I can't imagine. She defiantly knew costumer service. I'm sure she could work some where else, but maybe there isn't much in Moses Lake.
I wonder why she chose to live here. I over heard her telling a customer she was from Denmark. Why move from "The happiest country on earth." To Moses Lake, to work at Paradise Resturant, attatched to a best Western!?!?!?
The food wasn't bad actually. And the Martini? Well, it was perfect.

Arrival in Moses Lake!

We are staying at the Best Western on the lake. My grandmother says this motel is very old, but they are slowly fixing it up. First thing I noticed upon arrival was the large amount of stray cats.someone must be feeding them, but not feeding them enough.
There is a pool outside. But it is not open. It doesn't matter to me. It's too cold anyhow.

Third stop: "I see windmills on your horizon"

I didn't realize how much I missed this high desert terrain. I must visit Santa Fe again. Though it was aufully cold and windy!
Boppa seemed a bit tired and cranky when we arrived at the rest stop. But his mood has perked up a little now.
Grandma Jackie and I stretched at the rest stop. We were both feeling a bit sore.
The quote in the headline is from "The Milagros Bean Feild War". Only one of my favorite movies ever! A must see, in my opinion.

Second stop: rest stop near Lake Easton

The rest stop was very small and had only two restrooms. We all ate, Boppa and Jackie had cheese, grapes and apple sauce. I ate yogurt, and a pear.
We saw fog and snow in the mountains.
I found it far to cold.
Boppa has perked up a bit. He's cracking jokes, and reading the map.

First stop: Arlington rest stop

Our first stop was at a rest stop in Arlington. The air was cold and moist, with a constant drizzle.
Boppa and I did a little dance together. We sat on the bench and kicked our legs in unison, while I hummed a little tune.
Ps. WSP, I love the Ad!

We begin our journey!

I have been brought along for my grandparents yearly trek to the Spokane seed company board meeting.
We will be taking many stops along the way, and I intend to take many photos.
We just started on the I5 headed south.
My grandfather, who I call Boppa, seems mostly cold and sleepy. My grandmother is driving. I wish I had a license right now.
