First 3 days of Dancability

I don't want to explain what Dancability is too much you can look at the website to find out what Dancability is; http://www.danceability.com/
But I will speak a little to my experiences so far.
The first day you could feel everyone was a bit nervous. Everyone wanted to be there, of course. So everyone was excited. But knowing you are going to be spending the next month with someone, you want them to like you. You also don't want to offend anyone. Especially when dealing with such a weighty subject such as disability.
The first day was basically an introduction to Improv, and by improv I mean specifically improvisation in dance.
Yesterday we got more in depth, thinking about how we relate with others in the space. We also got a little deeper in to discussion about how use some the exercises with the different groups.
Today we focused primarily on composition. Making the dance "look good". We also got to see how an improvisation exercise can be transformed into choreography.
I am currently reading "Teaching With Poverty In Mind" by Eric Jensen. That in combination with the class is helping me to remain focused on how I can bring what I am learning now, back to Centennial Elementary in the Fall.
A lot of the class so far seems very reliant on the fact that everyone in the class is a nice person, a mature adult, and they want to be there. I often think to myself how could I get the kids I work with to participate, and not tease each other either.
I am excited for the the discussion on working with kids, and managing bullying.
